About the Publication

It is an open access publishing initiative managed by Doctrinatech S.A.S., Ecuador, dedicated to the publication of academic, technical, and scientific books in areas such as technology, digital innovation, computing, and digital transformation.

Scope and Content

The publisher produces full books, edited volumes (multi-author books), individual book chapters, and thematic series or collections. Works may be structured as monographs, technical manuals, specialized reports, or academic compilations.

Open Access Policy and Licensing

It operates under an immediate open access model. All publications are available without economic restrictions for readers.

Works are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

Authors retain copyright while granting the publisher the right of publication, distribution, and dissemination.

Publication Costs (BPC)

The publisher applies a Book Processing Charge (BPC) model intended exclusively to cover minimal operational costs (technological infrastructure, ISBN registration, DOI assignment, and maintenance of the editorial system).

  • Reference value: USD 200 per work

  • Charges are applied only after editorial approval

  • Payment does not influence editorial decisions

In special cases, upon duly justified request by the authors, the publisher may grant partial discounts or full waivers based on academic, institutional, or social criteria.

Editorial Process and Review

All publications are subject to a mandatory editorial evaluation process. Depending on the nature of the work, this process includes:

  • Double-blind peer review (always)

  • Editorial evaluation (always)

  • Technical review (always)

  • Copyediting (when necessary)

The evaluation applies to:

  • Full books

  • Edited volumes

  • Individual chapters

The type of evaluation applied is specified in each publication, ensuring transparency in the editorial process.

Ethics and Good Practices

The publisher adheres to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), promoting academic integrity, transparency, and the prevention of malpractice.

Identifiers and Interoperability

Publications are assigned ISBN and, where applicable, DOI registered through Crossref.

Metadata standards implemented include:

  • Dublin Core

  • ONIX for Books (progressive implementation)

Likewise, interoperability protocols such as OAI-PMH are enabled, facilitating indexing in repositories and academic systems.

Digital Preservation

It adopts a multi-level preservation strategy:

  • Institutional local copies

  • Backup in secure storage services

  • Deposit in open repositories (e.g., Zenodo)

These measures ensure the long-term availability and accessibility of publications.

Sponsorship and Funding

The publisher operates as an independent initiative. The BPC model constitutes a sustainability mechanism.

History

DOCTRINATECH OA was created as part of Doctrinatech S.A.S. to strengthen open access book publishing and the dissemination of technological and digital knowledge.
